How To Use Fetch

30 Things I’ve Learned at 30

By Wes Schroll

September 7, 2023

Hey Fetch Fam, guess what? It’s my birthday! I’ve got a feeling this is going to be my favorite one yet. I decided to get a little reflective this time around, and I’d like to share some thoughts with you.

Read some life lessons I’ve gathered after spending 30 years on this rock below.

Wes 30 life lessons at 30

1. Don’t give up on your dreams
Fetch wouldn’t have ever happened if I quit every time things got tough.

2. Have a good support system AND be a good support system
When you get good advice, you better pay it forward.

3. Never let hearing “no” discourage you
Hearing ‘no’ never gets easy. Reacting appropriately to bad news does, however.

4. Don’t be afraid to say ‘no’ yourself

You’re never going to be able to please everybody. Get good at letting people down easy.

5. Always find time for wellness

There’s room for stretching, meditation, and some breathing exercises in even the smallest hotel rooms.

6. Be open to experiences outside of your own

Not everyone has the same perspective as you. Finding the value in diverse views is key.

7. Travel at every opportunity

Jobs fill your wallet, but adventure fills your soul.

8. Kindness goes a long way

Being nice costs nothing.

9. Surround yourself with a talented team

You’re only as strong as your weakest link.

10. Things don’t always go as planned

The best ability is adaptability.

11. Don’t take your health for granted
You only get one body. Respect it.

12. Find your love for cooking

Sometimes the best chef you know is in the mirror.

13. Learning to live in the moment

Know when to stop recording & put the phone down.

14. F**k fear

If you’re scared, get a dog (I have a dog).

15. Make time for the people who make time for you

Similar to the golden rule, treat others the way you would want to be treated.

16. Help others

A storyteller makes up things to help other people; a liar makes up things to help himself.

17. Prioritize your happiness

Always gotta look out for No. 1

18. Be spontaneous

Your best memories will often be formed when there are no plans

19. Nothing good happens after 2am

You know exactly what I’m talking about.

20. Practice patience

Good things happen to those who wait.

21. Forgiveness
Grudges are heavy. I don’t have room for them in my bag.

22. Always be a student

You’re never too old to learn anything.

23. Empathy

We’re all in this together.

24. Creativity

Your personal brand is the best brand.

25. Stay humble

Never look down on anybody unless you’re helping them up.

26. Accept imperfection

Some things are better off as one-of-a-kind.

27. Smiling is a universal language

You can take that to the bank.

28. Know where you came from

No one can take your roots away from you.

29. Call your mother

My mom probably wishes this was higher on the list.

30. Embrace those who are different than you

Strength lies in differences, not in similarities.

The biggest piece of advice:

Dare to Dream Big

But wait, there’s more!
